Training with Linda Bauman, from Namibia on SOGIESC: Sexual Orientation Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sex Characteristics. Linda Bauman is a Feminist, Human Rights, Gender and Communications Activist.
20 participants from Mauritius and Rodrigues: empowering CSOs via the training on SOGIESC: definitions, challenges.
Objectives:
- Understanding the Sexuality, Sexual Orientation Gender Identity and Gender Expression: SOGIE
- Building commonalities and Intersectionalities Women, Girls, Children, LGBTI communities
- Understanding Activism, Advocacy and Movement Building within the context realities of Women, Girls, Children, LGBTI communities
- Advancing understanding in Communications and Access to Information
- Understanding Activism, Access to information and Ethical Reporting within the context realities of Women, Girls, Children, LGBTI communities
Facilitator’s training observations:
- The training representatives who attended the engagements was very committed to understanding the key issues of dialogue and also further shared realities of the need to build collective alliances within diverse sectors.
- There is a need to develop an advocacy theory of change for CSOs in order to advance strategic human rights reform.
- Communications strategy is key to building intersectionalities and integrations of the diverse realities experienced.
- There has been a great shift of mind, understanding and knowledge of the participants as day two manifested the reflectional debrief of appreciation.
